Comparing chain grades (Grade 30, Grade 70, Grade 80 and Grade 100)

Chain grades are a standard method for showing the ultimate breaking strength (tensile strength) of a chain. It is used to determine what sort of applications are appropriate for a given chain. In order to choose the right grade of chain for your project, it is essential to know the specific applications for each grade.

Grade 30 (General-purpose)

Grade 30 chain is economical and is used for all ordinary (general-purpose) applications. It is single-coloured, zinc-plated and hot galvanized.

Warning!

Do not use grade 30 chain for overhead lifting.

Grade 70 (load securement, towing)

Manufactured from a heat-treated carbon steel, grade 70 chain is an improvement over grade 30 chain. It is typically used by truckers, loggers and road crews for load securing and securing. towing because it meets current transport standards. This chain is yellow (gold) chromate plated for easy identification and to protect against rust.

Warning!

Do not use grade 30 chain for overhead lifting.

Grade 80 (overhead lifting)

Grade 80 chain is a sturdy and versatile high strength chain made from alloy steel. It is the most economical choice suitable for overhead lifting and also towing very heavy loads.

Compliant with lifting standards

This chain is hardened and tested to meet NACM (National Association of Chain Manufacturers), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) specifications.

Grade 100 (overhead lifting)

Made of alloy steel, grade 100 chain is approximately 25% stronger than grade 80 and is finished with a protective black coating. It is suitable for overhead lifting and also towing very heavy loads.
